Week 1 Tuesday

Hello,

I see that many of you have made your first forays into WebCampus. I hope that you have bought the textbook. There is no grace period. I expect work to begin immediately. We have a lot to do this semester.
You'll find all of the materials you need to complete our course are available from our Home Page. This week, you should start by reading the Course Introduction Module, then the Syllabus and Schedule, and then this instructor's message. After you've completed the Course Introduction Module, you should go on to complete the Introductory Memo module, which you'll find in the Projects folder.
Every module is set up the same way. All you need to do is click the link for the module, read the opening page, and work your way through the module beginning to end.

Where you should be today

You can check either the downloadable course schedule on the home page or the WebCampus calendar to see all of the things that are due by the end of the week.
  1. At this time, you should be well into the first module. Within the next few days you should complete all of the readings and take the quizzes. Remember, posting to the Discussion spaces is optional during Summer session. However, you may want to review the prompts and questions on the Discussion page in the module. If you don't have answers to the questions posed, you may not fully understand the concepts in the readings. If you are someone who learns best by talking things out, you'll find the whole-class discussion space to be very helpful.

  2. Also, you should be completing Exercise 1 and Exercise 2 today. You’ll find links to the exercises at the bottom of the list of links for the Course Introduction module. You’ll need to download the worksheets for Exercise 1 from the Exercise 1 link in the Assignment dropbox.

Be sure to NAME YOUR FILES CORRECTLY. If you do not, I will send them back, and they will be considered late if they are not named correctly and resubmitted by the due date.I know this seems like a nitpick, but the file naming conventions ensure that your work will not be overwritten by the work of another student in this class.

  3. You should also begin the reading for the Introductions Project by tomorrow at the latest.
There are a number of things due by Friday (including quizzes, exercises, and discussion posts); however, you should be completing these tasks during the week, rather than waiting until the end of the week. Stay on top of things. Work ahead. You may find that if you wait until Friday, you won't have time to complete everything.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Have a great day!

Dr. Staggers
