Week 3 Tuesday

Hello,

Just a couple of reminders on Tuesday:

Faux Pas Case

I encourage you to participate in the peer review for the Faux Pas case, because it's a pretty challenging assignment. The Faux Pas case is about problem solving; I’m looking for documents that solve the problem in the most ethical manner. You can submit any or all of your documents.

Because this is such a tricky project, I encourage you to think creatively about what kind of peer review works best. Maybe you don’t need detailed feedback on your individual documents; maybe everyone in your group would benefit from a general discussion of the ins and outs and potential problems with the case. You make the call on that one.

International Project: Progress Report

You have a progress report due at the end of this week. This is a brief, informal report to me that updates me on the status of your team project. You should describe what you’ve accomplished (in specifics – “We completed research on X, Y, Z topics” and not generalities “We’re almost done with our research.) You should also discuss the work you have left to do, and who’s going to do what.

This is a good opportunity for your team to take inventory; it might be helpful to put one person in charge of drafting this document and posting it to the group for updates/revisions before turning it in. Using this sort of approach leaves most of the team to complete the Research Design Plan and frees one person up to touch base with everybody and synthesize.

As writing assignments go, this is very low stakes. If you do a decent job on the content and memo format, you’ll pick up maximum points. If someone on your team is not doing a lot of writing on the other parts of the project (often someone who lacks confidence in either their writing ability or their English language skills), this is a good way for them to contribute.

If you have any problems or questions, please let me know.

Have a great afternoon!

Julie
